Re-starting Project Pan

 

 

Re-starting Project Pan because I bought some makeup and hair products.

I have tried Project Pan many times in the past without scoring a flawless success a single time. This time I failed to finish PP without breaking the rules, but better doing it imperfectly than stopping to do it at all, right?  

 

I am changing the rule, again, in accordance with my makeout 2013 rule(get rid of 2 products before you get one). So this time around the goal is not about using up all of the products on this list, but not to purchase any new items until I get rid of enough products to makeup for the products I bought already, and sticking to these products as much as I can until I reach the goal. And I added some products on the PP list as well.

This powder product gives you incredible amount of volume without looking greasy at all. I've been wanting this for a long time and it was 50% off...

Falsies is my favorite mascara ever, and I love color tattoo... and they were 40% off.. 

 

 

 MAC Studio Perfect Foundation SPF15 in NC40

I managed to shatter my Nature Republic powder foundation two weeks after I bought it. I salvaged it as much as I can and put it in a container so I can still use it, but it is so uncomfortable to use. So I was tempted  to get a new powder foundation. I will start using it once I get done with my canmake bronzer.

I made it a rule for me that I should get rid of 2 makeup products I already have in order to get a new product. So far I got 89 new stuff but only got rid of 123 products - I have 55 more products to get rid of.

August 2013 Empties/Throwaways

 

 

Banila co. deep the eyes eyeliner pencil in Sparkling Purple
A Project Pan item. Since the eyeliner fell out of the pencil, I moved it into a jar and trying to use up. It is one of those 'goes-on-very-creamy-but-doesn't-budge-once-it-sets' pencils. Purple with some pink sparkles which doesn't show up very much unless you build up the color. Color pigmentation is okay, but not the best. I wouldn't re-purchase this because I found some other eyeliners that are less expensive and perform better than this one.

YET Mascarala in purple velvet
Didn't like this. Rather than making my eyelashes appear purple-tinged, it gives my eyelashes some ashyness as though I accidentally put some face powder on my eyelashes. the formula is pretty dry which I like, but it dried up on me very quickly. It held the curl pretty well and didn't cause the lashes to clump up, but I just couldn't get over the color. Not going to re-purchase it.

Tony Moly Maxi Volume Force Mascara
It was just okay. It took me a while to get used to the huge wand, and the formula was a little too wet for my liking when I first opened it. But other than that it was okay. Had it not been discontinued, I might have picked it up when it was on discount.

Etude House Miss Tangerine Cream Choux Blusher no.1 Miss Tangeringe
This is very fun crazy yellow orange color to which was immediately drawn. But when I wore it out, people told me that I looked unwell. I tried using it on my lips, mixing it into my under eye concealer, etc. and held onto it for a while but.. there's no point in keeping a blush that makes me under the weather.

sheer natural pink shade with barely noticeable shimmer. It was just okay.

Cellio lipstick in Sun Glossy Orange
I love the color and it is quite long-lasting without being too dry. but the taste and smell is so awful that I just don't reach for it.

Aritaum Gel eyeliner brush  

It became a little too scratchy.

 

Espoir Dewy Face Glow

It is a subtle liquid illuminator with pink shimmer. I mixed it with moisturizer, foundation, etc., and used it as highlighter. The consistency is very thin and runny, and it feels almost moisturizing on the skin. I wouldn't purchase the full sized version because I don't like pink highlighters very much. but I enjoyed using this deluxe sample because it was easy to carry around in the purse and use whenever my face looks a bit dull.

Etude House Gel Tint Blusher in Red Orange

Very sheer red orange stain for cheeks. I didn't like it a lot because I found it difficult to blend in seamlessly. It tends to ruin the foundation underneath, and when worn underneath foundation it doesn't show up at all. I'm not sure whether it's limited edition, but it got phased out pretty quickly and I can see why. It smells rancid now so I am throwing it away.

Innisfree lipstain in touch-me-not
It goes on peachy initially, but turns an unflattering shade of orange a while after I put it on.

Nature Republic Botanical Shine Tint in Shine Peach
The same goes for this product. It is a peachy orangey shade with gold shimmer and looks pretty right after I put it on, but turns into a weird orange color.

Etude House Eyebrow gel
It is inexpensive and does the job of coloring my eyebrows so they match my hair color better, and keeping my eyebrow hair in place. I wasn't keen on the applicator, so I probably wouldn't repurchase it.

Estee Lauder Perfecting Illuminating Primer

Another Project Pan item. It is soft silicon based primer with gold shimmer. It does help the foundation to glide on easily, and the shimmer is subtle and pretty. It works both as foundation primer and also as a highlighter. I quite liked it but probably won't purchase full sized product because I have many highlighters and I prefer my primer to be without shimmer.

 

Skinfood cream eyeliner that came in a kit
It just doesn't stay put. I tried every tricks I know to make it last, but it just doesn't work.

Etude Jewelade nail polish in black

It's not Etude House, it's Etude. It used to be sold in drugstores before Etude House launched. Anyways, it was a good black nailpolish, but now it is a little too old and goopy to use.

 

Missha nail polish 손톱빛 화이트

Throwing it away because the consistency has changed. It is a sheer off white color that gives yout nails brightened and clean look. You can also use it to create an gradiant effect which is very pretty.

 

 

 

 IOPE Moisture Intense Softener/Emulsion

Quite liked these. very moisturing without being overly greasy.

 

The Face Shop Jewel Therapy Dual Care Ampoule

I don't notice any difference in my hair after using this product. I still hace another one left in my stash so I will use that up but not going to repurchase. The packaging is pretty nice for decanting liquid products, so I washed the container so I can use it when traveling.

 

Clarins Sunscreen Sample

I didn't like this at all. It has very strong white-ish peachy pink tint to it, which works downright against my skin tone. And it also caused me breakouts. I used it on my feet when I wore flipflops.

 

A'pieu Pure Block Natural Sun Cream SPF 45 PA+++

I am quite impressed with this. I used the entire sache on my face, but it didn't make my skin overly greasy nor did it interfere with my makeup. I might consider purchasing full sized tube when I am done with the sunscreen I am currently using.

 

 

IOPE Moisture Intense Cream

It was nice thick cream and I enjoyed using it at night.

 

A'pieu Dewdrop boost skin/lotion

These are okay.

 

Nature Republic The first fermented bubble cleanser

You are supposed to put this your dry skin, wait a little while until it bubbles up, massage gently and rinse with lukewatm water. It was a little fun watching it bubbling up on its own but that's it. It's just a cleanser.

 

Skinfood Avocado eye balm

It is very thick cream that provides a intense hydration. I probably wouldn't repurchase this because it stung my eyes a little bit. I accidentally dropped it and the package shattered on a side, so I ended up using it on my body instead of my under eye area where it is very sensitive.

 

3w clinic Multi Sunblock SPF40 PA++

My favorite sunscreen so far. But I can't find it anywhere..

 

 

 

some bath salt(unknown brand)

I enjoyed using it. Putting it in the bath, using it to exfoliate, etc.  

 

DIY body scrub(in the empty container of A'pieu peeling pad)

Ground coffee and olive oil. It worked great and cost me very little. I probable will make more of these in the future 

 

Organic Farm Vitamin E Soothing gel

Used it as a very light body moisturizer and it was great for summer. 

 

Dove Nourushing Oil Care Dual Treatment with weightless nutri-oils

 It was decent hair mask but nothing special about it.

 

 

 

Innisfree Jeju volcanic pore clay mask

 

My friend gave me these but had to throw away because they have all dried up for some reason. I have used sample packets of these before and I really liked them, so I am a bit sorry I couldn't use them.

 

 

Missha Time Revolution Aqua Youth Cream, A'pieu Eco Fresh Original Balhyo Badapodo Cream, The Face Shop Chia Seed Cream

 

All of these were pretty light-weight and a little bit slippy. They were just okay. Not bad but nothing spectacular.

 

 

 

Ethanol for Disinfection

I go through these a lot. I use it on my beauty tools, wipe down countertop with this, etc.

 

 

Nivea Extra White Deodrant Spray

Easy to use, inexpensive. It has powder scent which is not my favorite, but didn't gave me headache like some other heavily scented deodrants can.

 

 

I've been mixing so many different nail polish removers into this container that I forgot what I had in this pumping bottle. I finally used up what was in it.

 

 

 

꽃을든남자 Style Fix Hair Wax no.2 Airy Wave (30ml)

I am on project pan for hair products as well, and this is the first product to go. It is a hair wax that gives soft hold. I used it when I wanted natural look. it smells nice.

Face of the day

Estee Lauder Illuminating Perfecting Primer

Mix of Revlon foundation and Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer

Mix of the balm lipstick and Laura Mercier TM as cream blush

Nature Republic powder foundation on t-zone(forgot to include it in the picture)

Canmake bronzer

Applied MAC Barestudy on the lid and on the center of lower lashline.

Applied Banila co. purple eyepencil from the lashline towards the crease, to the extent it covers most of my eyelid but wouldn't be visible with my eyes open.

 Topped it with the bodyshop Vivid Amethyst and filled outer 1/4 of my lower lashline as well.

Blended the edge with Etude House Cafe Latte and added a sheer wash of Majolica Majoluca Jounetsu just on the outer corner. 

Added highlight to the center of my lid and on the center of my lower lashline with Aritaum duo's lighter shade.

Lined upper lashline with Majolica Majoluca perfect automatic liner RD605

The face shop superproof mascara.

Applied a pair of demi lashes on the outer corner. I haven't used false lashes in a long time but I think I did an okay job putting it on. 

Filled in the eyebrows with the lightest shade from banila co. eyebrow kit

Skinfood milk walnut lipstick + Nivea natural volume lipgloss on the lips. 

Mixed Etude House bronzy liquid highligter into my body lotion and put it on my arms and legs.

 

Used up little sache of Estee Lauder Primer! First thing on my Project Pan list to get finished off. I got 7~8 uses out of it. I liked it, not enough to purchase the full size, though.

I tested out Benefit's new box blush Rockateur at my local Benefit counter. It is brownish bronzey pinky blush with some sheen which gives very muted and sophisticated look. It's the kind of color that would suit many different skintones and go with any eye look and any color of lipstick.

It was highly reminiscent of the first blush that I've purchased : banila co. Copacabana bronzing blusher which was part of their limited edition a couple of years ago. I felt a little nostalgic.

I might consider purchasing this.

 

 

 

New Stuff, Addition to Project Pan

I usually stock up on some cleansers when they are on sale. So I got Etude House Baking Powder Cleansing Foam Moist and Happy Tea Time Milk Tea Cleansing Cream. 

I have used some samples of regular Baking powder face wash which I quite liked except how it can be a little bit drying on my cheeks, so I got the 'moist' version of it. 

As for the cream cleanser, I have used up a full-sized jar of happy tea time cleaning cream with lemon scent which was okay, so I assumed milk tea one would do the job just as well as the lemon tea one did. I used it about twice so far, and I am disappointed with it. It doesn't even remove foundation properly and has very overpowering powdery scent which puts me off. 

I also purchased a new shampoo. I am running out of second bottle of my favorite shampoo, so I wanted to try something new this time. 

I went through my beauty product stash and found I have way too many hair styling products. So I decided to do project pan on my hair styling products in addition to makeup products. I currently have : 

1 full-sized hair spray, 1 travel-sized hair spray

1 travel-sized hair mousse

1 travel-sized hair gel

1 leave-in conditioner/styling product(Very soft to no hold)

2 soft hold hair wax

4 strong hold hair wax

I am not going to purchase any hair product until I use up all the strong hold waxes and 2 or more other products.

And the same goes for makeup sponges and powder puffs as well. I really should use them up.

I de-tubed my Missha white eyeliner pencil and mixed it up with Skin food's matte white cream shadow and I really like the result. I am using it as highlight. So Skin food's white cream eyeshadow is now included in my Project Pan, whish is good because this way I will use up more products. 

The problem is I can't find it anywhere right now... 

a mini haul and Project Pan 2013.08.20¬

Firstly, these are the products I bought today.

Etude House Look at my nails BK801, BE103, Bling in the Sea Sparkling nails no.4, Dear My Nails BK801, PK003 : 

Etude House nail polishes were on buy one get one free, so I took advantage of the deal. I got Look at my nails BK801 which is a creamy black shade to replace my old and super goopy black nail polish which happens to be also from Etude House. BE103 is sheer beige with subtle shimmer, very au naturel. Bling in the sea is a limited edition range and wasn't a part of the buy one get one free deal, but shade no.4 was too pretty to pass up. It is full of chunky bits of glitter which is translucent blue.

Dear my nails BK801 is sheer black with black and red glitter, and PK003 has white, black and red bits of glitter. 

I am looking forward to painting my nails with these. 

The Saem's eyebrow pencil in brown

My eyebrows have melted off in the heat, and I didn't have anything on hand to draw them back in. This seems to match my current hair color pretty well and has a brush on the other side of the pencil which comes in handy. I am going to keep it in my makeup bag from now on.

Etude House Look at My Lips no.8 Lovely Antique Rose

This is the shade I've been looking into for quite a while, and found it was 30% off today. It is mauve-y pinky brown-y nude-ish color which gives my lips muted and polished look without washing out my complexion. I have quite a few Look at My Lips lipsticks, and they are really nice for the price. The only complaint I have is that the cap does not close securely enough that it comes off from time to time.

Now, onto Project Pan.

I have been on 'makeout 2013' (inspired my pinksofoxy's Youtube videos, of course) of the rules I made up for myself; I should get rid of two products before I purchase a new one. It went on okay for a while, but later on the pace of purchasing new products caught up, and I ended up buying a lot more products than I should. So I decided to go on Project Pan again to give myself a break from mindlessly stopping by beauty stores, looking for more stuff to buy, and provide myself with some time to use up some of the products I already have.

잉크가 조금 끊긴다 싶더니 반 좀 넘게 쓰니까 너무 많이 끊겨서 버리기로 했다. 필기감은 부드럽고 좋은 편이지만 다시 살 일은 없을듯.

제일 많이 닳은건 스킨푸드 밀크월넛. 글로시하고 말갛게 발색이 되고, 얌전한 누드톤이지만 핑크빛이 도는 덕분에 얼굴이 죽어보이지 않는다.

 

미샤는 너무 밝아서 다른 립스틱과 섞어 바르거나 립글로스를 덧바르지 않으면 아주 이상해진다.

 

 

 

 

 

아이브라우 마스카라를 새로 샀다. 오른쪽의 에뛰드 제품이 조금 변질된 것 같아서.

네이처리퍼블릭의 완드가 에뛰드보다 바르기 편해서 맘에 든다. 다음엔 또 다른 모양의 완드가 내장된 제품을 사봐야지.

오늘 아르바이트가 끝나고 언어의정원을 보러 갈 생각이다. 내가 좋아하는 하타모토히로가 주제가를 부른다고 하니 더 기대된다.

요즘 손과 발, 특히 발에 열이 나서 잠을 잘 못자고 있다. 몇년 전부터 여름 밤이면 발에 열이 나서 찬물로 식히고 자곤 했는데, 요즘은 그냥 열이 나는 걸 넘어서 발바닥이 화끈거릴 지경이다.

자주 다니던 한의원에 가보니(선생님은 다른 분으로 바뀌었지만) 울화가 쌓여서 그런 거라고, 그걸 풀어줘야 한다고 했다. 약 한재에 20만원을 한다는데 백수 처지에 선뜻 약을 짓겠다고 하기가 어려워서 그냥 침만 맞고 의료보험되는 한약을 삼일치 받아왔지만 그것도 제대로 안 먹었다;

 

요즘 좀 상태가 안 좋긴 하다. 알바도 지각하고...

 

 

 

 

 

 오랜만에 공들여서 화장을 해봤다.

 

맥 프로롱웨어 파운데이션- 요즘 좀 타서 그런지 정말 잘 맞는다.

네이처 리퍼블릭 포토샷 컨실러 23호 - 눈밑과 코 옆부분, 미간.

더페이스샵 해피페이스 파우더 - 티존에만

맥  쉬어톤 블러셔 피치스 - 눈 밑을 중심으로 바르고 콧등까지 연결함. 요즘 자주 이렇게 바르고 있다. 햇빛에 그을린 느낌도 나서 좋다.

에스쁘아 듀이 페이스 글로우로 하이라이트

 

투쿨포스쿨 디아노플라츠 크림섀도 피치골드로 베이스. 요즘 자주 바르고 있다. 내 피부톤에 아주 잘 맞는 것 같다. 한여름에 크리스가 안 생기는걸 보면 지속력도 훌륭하다.

미샤 네이처헤븐의 살구색을 눈꺼풀 전체에 바르고

스킨푸드 웜 초코 스모키의 B색상을 눈꺼풀 맨 안쪽과 바깥쪽에 발라서 음영을 만들고 닐라코 러브어페어 팔레트의 플럼색상을 눈꺼풀 맨 바깥쪽에 한번 더 덧발라서 더 어둡게 함. 스킨푸드의 A색상을 눈꺼풀 가운데에 톡톡 발라서 하이라이트. 로라메르시에 모닝듀로 눈썹뼈 하이라이트. 미샤 매직아이체인지를 묻힌 브러시로 에스쁘아 오렌지피버를 언더 가운데에 바름.

홀리카홀리카 블랙젬으로 라인을 그리고 로라메르시에 블랙커피로 풀어줌.

 

입술은 헤라 오렌지베이지 + 에뛰드 하우스 광채코랄.

얼마 전에 본 BBC Horizon의 The truth about personality편에 등장했던 CBM(Cognitive Bias Modification) 관련 앱이 구글플레이에 있길래 받아봤다. 아직 한창 연구중이라는 therapy방법인데, 긍정적인 것보다 부정적인 것(비난, 걱정 등)에 집중하는 무의식적인 경향을 교정하기 위한 것이다. 찌푸린 얼굴들 사이에 숨어있는 웃는 얼굴을 찾아서 터치하면 끝. 하루에 몇분만 투자해도 큰 효과가 있다고 한다. 가끔 생각날 때마다 하고 있다.

 

 

 

 

3w clinic선크림을 다 써가고 있어서 새 선크림을 사봤다. 왓슨에서 50%세일하는걸로. 난 화장품 성분을 잘 모르지만, skin deep에 검색을 해보니 물리적 차단 성분이 중심인 것 같다. 위험도가 높다고 되어있는 성분도 크게 눈에 띄지 않고. 테스터를 팔뚝에 듬뿍 발라봤는데, 사용감도 딱히 나쁘지는 않았다. 물론 백탁은 좀 있었지만.

 

 

 

어제 내 가방에 들어있던 립 제품들. 요즘 자주 쓰는 것들이니 간단하게 후기를 적어보겠다.

 

투쿨포스쿨 배드걸 굿걸 2호

 틴트는 발색이 투명하고 자연스럽다. 지속력은 별로 좋지 않지만 건조하지 않아서 좋다. 볼에도 가끔 바른다. 립글로스는 광택이 아주 예쁘고 건조하지 않지만, 두어시간 이상 바르고 있다보면 입술이 꼭 벗겨진다. 그래서 각질을 제거하고 싶을 때 자주 바른다;;

 

 더샘 글로벌 에코 레드

이름은 레드지만 트루레드는 아니고.. 약간 오렌지와 핑크가 섞인 밝고 연한 색이다. 닉스 팜므에서 펄과 형광기를 뺀 다음 오렌지를 약간 섞은 느낌?? 팜므는 맛이 안좋고 건조했지만 이건 맛도 거슬리지 않고 건조하지 않아서 맘에 든다. 입술 안쪽에만 살짝 발라도 좋고 꽉꽉 채워 발라도 좋다. 내 피부톤에 잘 맞는 것 같다.

 

에뛰드 하우스 오렌지인지 아닌지

매트하고 발색 잘 되는 핫 오렌지. 매트하지만 크게 건조하지 않다.

 

미샤 맘보 푸시아

핫핑크라 상콤하고 좋다. 착색되고 난 입술색이 예쁘다.

 

보브 립펜슬 핑크 블로섬/플라오렌지

원래는 양쪽에 같은 색상이 들어있는 건데 듀오로 만들었다. 핑크 블로섬은 밝은 핑크색이다. 베이지나 오렌지빛이 별로 섞이지 않은 밝은 핑크. 플라오렌지는 약간 피치빛이 도는 베이지색.

 

 

 

 

몇년 전부터 여름밤에 발에 열이 많이 나고 다리가 불편해서 잠을 잘 못 잔다. 발에 선풍기 바람을 쐬어 보기도 하고, 찬물로 발을 식혀보기도 하고, 다리를 어찌해야 할 지 모르겠어서 올렸다 내렸다 뒤척거리느라 늦게야 잠이 들곤 한다. 편하게 자고 싶다.
